Press Release

Addressing flare gas should be a key priority for oil & gas sector

$30 billion worth gas is flared annually bringing immense harm to the environment whilst giving no economic benefit

Global business trends and public opinion are increasingly stacked against the hydrocarbon industry and while oil & gas companies are focusing on net-zero emissions, they continue to ignore the big, burning issue (literally) right in their backyard - flaring of associated gas. Quadriga Energy’s spokesperson said, “This is an issue that needs to be addressed on a war-footing. Flare gases once flared results in acidification of the environment and damage to the flora and fauna. A precious resource is being burnt away when all the technology and expertise to capture, clean and convert to energy exists in the market.  Utilisation of the gas cleaning and conversion technologies will help companies monetise an otherwise wasted resource and bring in major environmental benefit”.

The uncertainty over life of wells and their location (usually remote & away from demand centres) are the key issues that prevent oil & gas companies from investing in flare gas value recovery projects. Quadriga Energy’s containerised solutions can be deployed at remote locations relatively easily and is adaptable to varying fluid flows and irregular energy content, capturing the full stream of gas, drop-off liquids and the scrubbed impurities that can be dealt with the in-house expertise in environmental management. The solution is fully mobile and can be relocated to another flare location at the end of well life, thereby ensuring continuous operations and guaranteeing stable returns on the CAPEX investment.

Quadriga Energy has formed a consortium of global OEMs and has engineered a pioneering solution to tackle this problem, irrespective of the quality of gas. Their technical expertise in this matter is backed by decades of experience in the upstream oil & gas and environment sectors and is leveraging its partnership with renowned engine and gas cleaning technology suppliers such as Waukesha. Quadriga Energy’s spokesperson said, “We hope to develop a win-win opportunity with Oil & Gas operators who are under pressure to reduce flaring by converting these gases into value added products that will be sold back to the oil and gas operator”.
